Sometimes the process for writing and recording a song is fairly clear.
Other times it can be a bit like having a lucid dream.

The instrumentation on the recording of Ceremony of the Crow evolved in The Bunker, beginning with a series of experiments using musical toys, some analog synthesizers and an electronic drum kit. Eventually, Tim Bratton- regular Bewildernest collaborator and guitar chameleon- came along and laid down some guitar tracks that have been compared to the troubling sound of the chainsaw in the Brian De Palma Scarface film.

The lyrics come from random phrases, gathered over the past few years and arranged to create the statement of a person who has been caught off guard by an event that has challenged personal defaults that are decades old. It is a portrait of hellish disappointment.

Ceremony of the Crow is the pre-release single for the forthcoming Bewildernest EP and is the source of the 'Nevermore, Nevermind' title.

And suddenly, there's nothing
I find myself alone
No chatter of the children
No vibrations from my phone
And in that silent moment
I assess the damage done
But searching for a pattern
I find that there is none

The innocence of nonsense was almost enough to spoil the show. I lay to rest my altar ego in the Ceremony of the Crow. I tried to find some tears there but I had checked them at the door and then misplaced the bloody ticket with my face pressed to the floor. With my face pressed to the floor

The whisper in the morning was just an echo of the night and all those saviours in the darkness were found to be perpetrators of the light. If everyone's a victim of passion's winning bid then nothing is irrefutable- it's all just snap to grid

I'll get myself a little place and finally retire deep in the uncanny valley- darn my socks with piano wire- because alone there in my madness there will be no ties that bind, and to all thus quoth the Raven:
